NPD Councilman found guilty of assault

The district court sentenced Dortmund NPD Axel Thieme councilor on Tuesday to pay a fine of 1200 €. Thieme also must assume the legal costs and expenses of the five witnesses called. Thieme announced to the media already that his attorney will file an appeal.

Background of the court ruling is an assault on a student on the edge of Christopher Street Day on 29 August 2009. A day before the local leaders of the NPD in the pedestrian zone was on the road again and made attention. Noticed by a few participants of Folsom and accompanied by their dislike it came to blows. Thieme struck the students. Splinter injuries to one eye, damage to property and a suspected concussion was the result. The "victim" complained yesterday and he was right to speak. The costs of the proceedings and a claim for pain and suffering has been imposed from 1200 € to the councilmen NPD.

Thieme sees himself as a victim. In his testimony he spoke of self-defense posture and a purely defensive situations. That he was attacked and could not be confirmed by the witnesses called.
