New Report about HIV and Aids in North-Africa and the Middle-East

Together, the World Bank, UNAIDS and the WHO Health Organization of the United Nations for the first time in February 2011 submitted a comprehensive report on the situation of the HIV epidemic in North Africa and the Middle East.

This region offers a mixed picture with regard to HIV and AIDS. Thus says the report in Djibouti and Sudan, of a generalized HIV epidemic, while in most other countries affected mainly certain groups of HIV, the general population have little or no contrast. In many states across existing stigma hinders effective HIV prevention.

Laith J. Abu-Raddad, main author of the report, emphasized in a presentation on 15 February 2011 in Washington, for the region is now subject to comprehensive HIV / AIDS from data. In addition, the main transmission routes and affected populations are known. Now it is in politics to act and to take effective measures.
