Since May 24th of last year, 'WelleFM,' Austria's only Internet radio, broadcasts regularly a special program for the LBGT Community. EVery Sunday at 8 pm 'Andersrum' reports about events, tips and even a special segment to meet that special someone.
Popular are the categories: 'Looking for You', where listeners have seen people somewhere, but never dared to speak to them. But Love is of course also part of the program: 'Love Time' - where listeners are looking for their significant other.
The trend Checker reports in a 4-minute piece about premises, that are the "in-places" for the gay community to hang out. Lots of music, that are of particular interest to the LBGT community. All of that guarantees a full program for the 2 hours. Occasionally the broadcast lasts longer than the alloted time slot, but the listeners don't mind that at all. The program is being moderated by the native Tyrolean Herbert Sieberer, who has gained his experience at two private radio channels. The idea for the program "Andersrum' came from Sieberer himself: "There are so many special programs designated to: Rock, Techno, Gothic, and more, but for same-sex love there isn't being anything done in Austria," says Sieberer. "That's why I thought of this show, that has even become popular with straight listeners."
You can listen to WelleFM in Austria and internationally via WebRadio. Beginning in March WelleFM will be, once again, available via AONTV and statin will be available to all Telekom Austria customers via their receiver. On top of all of that, like any 'real' radio station, WelleFM broadcasts the latest news as well.
