Iran plans on executing a 19-year old on the charges of sodomy

Iran threatens a 19-year-old's execution: he was sentenced to death for homosexuality. Amnesty International therefore calls for an "urgent action".

Ehsan (the surname is known to Amnesty) was arrested arrested two years ago by the Iranian authorities. He and two others were accused by a man of attempted rape.

After nearly four weeks of torture Ehsan finally put in an interrogation confessed. In court, he retracted this, however, and denied the accusation. Even the man who had brought the charges against the three young people took this already at the first hearing back already complete.

Nevertheless, a court ruled in Fars was the "homosexuality" (lavat) guilty and sentenced him to death - and that, although one of the five judges had not found guilty of Ehsan and demanded his release. But the division 13 of the Supreme Court in Tehran could be like this not to impress: it upheld the death sentence.

Amnesty is not known whether the supreme judicial authority of Iran for the executions has given permission already. If this should be the case, Ehsan can be executed at any time. The human rights organization, therefore, calls to action vie an email campaign. Sample letters and e-mail address can be found on the Swiss queer Amnesty page.
