FPÖ smear campaign against a gay asylum seeker

Against homosexuals and asylum seekers, the Freedom Party, Vienna has a polemic about this - what could be more for the far-right party to get excited about as a gay asylum seeker?

Under the title "Amazing Court case law on the asylum" the Freedom Party in Vienna criticized in a press release that a Nigerian asylum in Austria has been granted, "because he was allegedly a homosexual and thus to fear persecution in his home village had". What did the populists apparently overlooked: Lesbians and gay men really have in Nigeria are fighting for their lives, as a quick look in the archives shows GGG.at.

Thus, in Nigeria, "sexual intercourse with a person against nature or the allowance of sex with a man," punishable by up to 14 years in prison. In one part of the country, however, governed by Islamic law under the threat of Sharia law in force in gay and lesbian capital punishment.

They should, in February 2008, 18 men aged between 18 and 21 years to be stoned because of their sexual orientation. A month later, a gay activist in Nigeria has been brutally murdered. The perpetrators are part of the environment of the Anglican Church of Nigeria, which incited massively against homosexuality. In February 2009, boasted, finally, the then Foreign Minister Ojo Madueke to the UN that there are in his country are not lesbian, gay or transgender.

But can the Vienna FPÖ-club boss John Gudenus from the facts are not swayed in his opinion: "Each story time has more to truth than the predetermined life stories of so many asylum seekers," he incites.
