Israel to deport partner of murdered LBGT activist

In August 2009, a masked man as a youth event of the Tel Aviv Gay and Lesbian Association (Aguda) stormed and shot with an assault rifle, a 17-year-old girl and a 26-year-old group leader, all Israel was in mourning. The German Thomas Schmidt was the boyfriend of Nir Katz, who was shot in the attack. In Israel today allowed the 27-year-old stay only because his partner was Israeli. But now he got re-post from the Ministry of Interior: Schmidt has to leave by the end of the month, the country and return to Germany. His visa, which normally applies only three months, had already been extended by nine months, the ministry said. The young man is a total of six years in Israel.

Alaya Katz, mother of Nir, has been the authorities tried everything to get the partner of her murdered son to make a permanent visa - but without success. Schmidt is in despair: "My whole life is in Israel, my friends, my job, my family." Says the social worker. He wants to continue fighting against the order.
