Since January 2010, gay and lesbian couples in Austria, a Registered Partnership (EP) received. At first glance, all those who have dared to take this step to be single - because it so previously in Austria no way for same-sex couples were to seal their relationship. Yet official statistics has a few surprises.
Overall, 705 gay and lesbian couples within the last year tied the knot - makes on the paper 1410 Registered Partner. Of which were previously only 1194 single. 211 partners - more than 15 percent - were divorced. They have been trying to say with a heterosexual marriage. Four men - two in Vienna, and one each in Upper Austria and Styria - were ahead of their registered partnership widowed heterosexual.
In fact, incidentally, have only 1409 gays and lesbians in the first year of the registered partnership, where the knot: A lesbian from Lower Austria had, according to Statistics Austria already resolved EP behind them when they again decided for a registered partnership.
