International Day against Racism

"UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon stated again that racism is still contaminated our world. Today's International Day against Racism should encourage us in our efforts against this 'disease' not to weaken, "said Peter Traschkowitsch, chairman of the Vienna SoHo (social democracy and homosexuality) on Monday.
"Racism and xenophobia are neither in Austria nor a marginal phenomenon in Europe, but widespread. We therefore call on both European and Austrian level-raising initiatives and programs against right and xenophobia. In particular, Interior Minister Fekter is asked to step up the fight against right, "said the SoHo-chairman.

Widespread racism and xenophobia were unfortunately in the LGBT community. "Therefore we also support the action undertaken by MIGAY 'Queer against law'. For our society it is important that NGOs and governments cooperate to proceed against xenophobia and right-wing tendencies and thus strengthen our democracy, "said Traschkowitsch.
