Scottish Equal Treatment Commission suggests to open marriage for LBGT Couples

In Scotland, the Equality and Human Rights Commission has recommended the government to open gay and lesbian couples marriage.

The recent report by the Commission, the current system discriminates against gays and lesbians and also corresponds to the will of the public. Because this is a marriage-friendly opening gesinnnt: In 2006, 53 percent of the Scots for same-sex marriage, by 2009 this figure even rose to 62 percent.

This would give a marriage-opening in the traditionally Catholic Scotland the corresponding support in the population. The government should take after the elections in May of this issue, the Commission recommends.

As particularly discriminatory, the Commission, that have transgender divorce from their partners before they are legally recognized in their new gender. Registered partnerships also have a lower status than marriages.
