In Croatia today is a sensational trial started: As a religion teacher before a class of the 8th Grade homosexuality is said to have described as a disease, it must answer for himself today before the Regional Court in Zagreb.
The lesbian club "cons " had brought private prosecution. It is the first time that such a case lands after the Croatian anti-discrimination law in court. An attempt to bring the religion teacher in court, has already failed. An appeal before the District Court was rejected last year.
The teacher himself denies all allegations. She claims to have spoken not homophobic, but are only held to the curriculum to have. There's nothing standing of the kind. For her presumption of innocence applies.
For conservative Catholic groups, the process is waiting: So have about a hundred activists demonstrated outside the court. They carried signs that said, for example, "Stop the Christian-phobia". Croatian schools are to have only been about twenty years, religious education.
