In 2010 more than 260 members of the LBGT community have been murdered in Brazil.

The annual report of the Brazilian homosexual organization GGB is appalling: In the last year in Brazil 260 murders of homosexuals, lesbians and transgender people officially. That means 62 more deaths than the year before (198) and even an increase of 113% over 2007 (122).

Among the dead were 140 homosexual and 110 transgender people. The number of murders is also on the rise: in just the first three months of this year for 65 murders were registered to homosexuals. GGB has calculated, that the risk be murdered for a homosexual or transsexual in Brazil 785% higher than in the United States. These are the figures just for the SCI officially available figures, there is an official statistics on the sexual orientation of the murder victim is not in Brazil.

The 'death list' leads to the state of Bahia with 29 murders, followed by 24-Alagoas and Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo with 23 murders. 'popular mode of death' is the shooting at 43%, followed by knife murders of 27%. By beating with sticks or stones after all, died for 18% of murder victims. Many of these crimes interpret because of the cruelty with which they are performed out of hate crimes. So some of the victims were tortured or castrated for example, a transgender was even slaughtered with 72 stab wounds.
